Sunday 30th July, our 50th Anniversary Invitation Competition, was a fantastic success despite the changeable weather. Brian Baxendale planned the event and supervised the competitions. Sue Lecomber managed all refreshments for the day and organised members who volunteered to help. The lunch was delicious and there were so many home made cakes for afternoon tea to enjoy.

President Roger Parsons, a Littleton Bowls Club member for 50 years opened the event, played for another team who were short of players for a while and presented cheques to the winning team

Our 50th  anniversary.

Dear All,

Most people agree we had a good day a couple of weeks ago culminating with the Hog Roast. On July 30th we are inviting twelve local clubs to join a team from our club to compete for a £100 prize. Our team will basically be the one that won the tournament on Hog Roast Day.

We shall be providing lunch for the teams. We shall also be serving tea and coffee throughout the day and cake in the afternoon (all for a charge). However, we will need a rota of helpers to do this. Could you please help?

If you could spare some time that day please let Sue Lecomber know your availability.. We will also need some cakes for the afternoon, (and raffle prizes) so please let Sue know if you could provide a cake.

All profits from the day, including the bar, will go into club funds, so this is an ideal opportunity for everyone to make a contribution.

Thanks for your help

Roger Parsons

I must thank all the members who came and helped today. We have made great progress as you will see from the photos.

Grateful thanks to: Garry Matthews, Andy Kimber, Paul Angell, Jim McDonald, Andrew Rolt and Sue Lecomber for the morning session. Then in the afternoon, without a break: Garry Matthews, Andy Kimber, Paul Angell were joined by Paul Rumble, Martin Bown, Robin Gray and Keith Ovenden.

Doug Powell – Facilities Manager

This is how we started the day

And finished at about 5pm

Our very successful “Bowl-a-thon” fund raising event in May has enabled the committee to purchase a much needed new gazebo. Thanks to Garry Mathews, Martin Bown and Richard Tate for building, doesn’t it look great.

Congratulations to Audrey Tarry, Glyn Cole & Geoff Pearce, winners of the Cannon Ball Trophy, our final competition of the season

***********

On Saturday 14th May we held a Bowl-a-Thon organised by Cheryl and Geoff Bennett this was a huge success. The sun shone bright when the Saxons challenged the Vikings, unfortunately the Vikings were no match for Saxons! 3336 bowls were bowled some of which were bowled by supporting visitors and people having taster sessions. Looking forward to welcoming them back for more.

If you didn’t get a chance to call in then we will be part of the Big Bowls Weekend 27th May. This is organised by Bowls England click here for more information.
